Father's Day
We spent father’s day on the Oregon coast this year. Super relaxing – long walks, ocean sounds, reading, cuddling with Zoë. Check out our pics!

A Girl's Wish to See 'Up'
This is quite a touching news story.
Colby Curtin, a 10-year-old with a rare form of cancer, was staying alive for one thing – a movie. From the minute Colby saw the previews to the Disney-Pixar movie Up, she was desperate to see it. Colby had been diagnosed with vascular cancer about three years ago, said her mother, Lisa Curtin, and at the beginning of this month it became apparent that she would die soon and was too ill to be moved to a theater to see the film.
Checkup!
Zoë got her final checkup at Andaluz today.
She weighs 10 pounds, 9 ounces. She is 21 3/4 inches tall.
Stick Out Tongue
It’s official. Our girl has stuck out her tongue. Twice, today, in response to Kandace’s expressions.

I am just putting the wraps on a video from the party last weekend. I’ll post it as soon as it passes muster.
pass muster be accepted as adequate or satisfactory : a treaty that might pass muster with the voters.
Zoë Can See!
Your baby can probably focus on and track moving objects now. Try giving his new skills a workout by slowly passing a toy in front of his face or by having a little “staring contest” during which you walk slowly back and forth in front of him. Watch how his eyes lock with yours and follow along with your movement. This skill is a building block for hand-eye coordination, which will come later.

Watermelon Day
I made a little movie today while Kandace was taking a bath.
There is no sound because YouTube disabled it. They detected T. Rex in there apparently. If you want to see it with sound, watch it on my MobileMe page from Apple.
Birthing Timeline on Twitter
For those of you who were not following along on my Twitter page, here is what my notes looked like. It’s an interesting record of events (with minor corrections).
-
Maybe I’m jumping the gun, but I suspect it is a matter of hours before we’ll be heading into the birthing center!
2:19 AM Apr 8th -
In active labor now, Kandace still takes the time to make the bed!!
7:55 AM Apr 8th -
Looks like the full on labor won’t happen until this evening. For the record, there is an iPhone app for recording your contractions…
10:03 AM Apr 8th -
Just ran up to @barcarlo to grab K some pasta – delicious. Have to get that protein and carbs!
12:20 PM Apr 8th -
Been a long day! We are stopping into the birth center now, just to say hi before they leave their office.
5:03 PM Apr 8th -
Birthing update: K took a bath, and is now trying to get some rest. Not taking calls!! Once it gets dark, we expect things to get busy.
7:20 PM Apr 8th -
511: five minutes apart, one minute in duration, for one hour. Think we’re just about there now.
9:42 PM Apr 8th -
We are at the birthing center. Settling in. Taking K’s vitals. Tub is nice and warm!
12:30 AM Apr 9th -
Tried sleeping for a bit, but K is getting too many contractions… Now she is relaxing in the hot tub. So far so good!
3:15 AM Apr 9th -
No sleep. Very intense and frequent contractions. K has never looked so tired! Still in good spirits and the baby sounds good in there.
5:27 AM Apr 9th -
For the curious, no birth yet! Still in tub with heavy contractions. Taking it easy. Tired but saving our strength!
8:04 AM Apr 9th -
Almost there! Patience!!!
10:52 AM Apr 9th -
Still in labor! K doing well but exhausted. So close!!!
1:31 PM Apr 9th -
3:48pm. Zoë Rae Brigleb born.
4:02 PM Apr 9th
The updates were posted to Twitter during very brief breaks, for the bathroom and what not, using the program Tweetie on my iPhone. It worked very well, but I certainly wasn’t able to post any updates from the birthing bath tub!!
Welcome Zoë Rae Brigleb!

Our daughter Zoë was born at about 5PM PST today. She’s happy and healthy and we’re all completely exhausted so we’re going to bed!
Any Day Now. Really!
We are just waiting. Here is a picture I snapped of Kandace as we were going out for a little walk. It was a lovely day out, in between some rain and hail!

If you’re on Twitter, be sure to follow us. I am “brigleb” and Kandace is “kandacerae”. We’ve also added our last five tweets to the sidebar there on the right, so you can always check them there too.
As soon as we hear anything, we’ll be sure to say something on Twitter, on this here blog, and who knows, maybe we’ll even find time to call a few family members. Just kidding!
