Things Zoë Gets

Zoe seems to understand that the remote works with the television. Lately, I’ve noticed that when she gets her hands on it, she looks at the television, as if something is going to happen.

She has taken to knocking over blocks stacked tall. She takes great delight at knocking the tower over. She can spot the stack from across the room, and will come running for them with a big smile.

She recognizes parts in some of her Baby TV shows at which she is supposed to clap. Sometimes she claps early, she’s gotten so excited. She also likes to yell “hi” when new characters are introducing themselves on-screen.

She was playing with a small red cat ball tonight, that rattles. She kept taking it and throwing it, mostly down, but it would travel quite a distance. Then she would go pick it up, and throw it again. This entertained her for at least fifteen minutes.

She seems no longer to be bothered by most loud noises at all. She’s used to the blender, and often tries to make the loudest noise she can with anything she gets her hands on.

Saturdays Rock

Zoë is speeding up with her mad linguistic skills. She’s currently obsessed with saying bye-bye (ba-bayeeeeee) which shouldn’t be confused with another favorite, ba-ba. She’s also learned her first body part, nose, or in Zoë speak, doooose. This is always accompanied by a point at your nose (careful lest that finger end up straight up your nostril – she gets a tiny baby thrill out of that).

Saturdays are big days around here. No work or school, so we get to hang out family style and enjoy lovely Portland. We spent this morning at the park (check out the slide video here) and then this afternoon swimming. Zoë’s swimming teacher said that she’s such a good swimmer that “she’s going to go a long way.” Future Olympian, anyone! Here we are working on our back floats.

Zoë Does a Little Walking

We got back from the coast today. Grandma B was so nice to watch her overnight for us!

We went for a walk around the block, and this is a short video of Kandace and Zoë playing together and walking. Zoë walked for much of the time around the big block.
